Three suspects involved in a shoplifting incident at the Folsom Premium Outlets were arrested last week after a dramatic police chase that spanned multiple jurisdictions. According to the Folsom Police Department, the incident began when officers patrolling the area spotted suspicious activity suggesting that two males and one female had been stealing from the Nike store.
The trio initially tried to evade police by entering a nearby restaurant before quickly fleeing in a BMW when they realized the presence of law enforcement. A chase ensued onto Highway 50 toward Sacramento but was soon called off due to safety concerns. However, a coordinated effort involving the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento Police Air Unit, and California Highway Patrol managed to quickly locate the suspects again. In the statement obtained by CBS Sacramento News, officers chased the suspects all the way to Hamilton Street in North Sacramento, where they attempted to once again flee on foot but were promptly apprehended.
All three suspects were booked into Sacramento County Jail. They have been identified as Vailoauta Lopa, 40, Estephan Villegas, 39, and Maryssa Meza, 35, who are facing various charges including theft, felony evasion, and outstanding warrants. The Folsom Police Department used their social media post to express gratitude towards the other agencies involved in the successful capture of the suspects, highlighting the swift action and teamwork that led to the arrests.
