Union County law enforcement officials, alongside multiple agencies, have arrested three individuals in connection with a series of gang-related drive-by shootings that took place in the Wingate area this August. The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspects targeted occupied residences, unleashing a barrage of gunfire in what is believed to be gang violence.
As per the details provided by the QC News, the first attack involved "numerous rounds" fired into an occupied home on Taylor Street. Another incident followed on Neptune Way, where detectives say approximately 50 rounds were fired at a second dwelling. In both instances, thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The Union County Sheriff's Office, Monroe Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation worked collaboratively on the investigation that led to three arrests. 19-year-old Jaylen Richardson of Monroe and 21-year-old Jaden Satterfield, also from Monroe, along with a third suspect, who is a minor and thus their identity remains protected, are the individuals charged. "All three individuals face multiple felony charges, including Attempted Murder and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling," reported WCNC.
Following their apprehension, Richardson is being held in the Union County Detention Center without bond. Satterfield's bond has been set at $1.1 million. The juvenile is in custody at a juvenile detention facility, under a secured custody order issued by the Department of Juvenile Justice, shared WBTV.
