The city of Tolleson is gearing up for a key event in its democratic process – the 2025 Special General Election. On September 23, voters within Arizona's 7th Congressional District will take to the polls at the Tolleson Civic Center, located at 9055 W. Van Buren Street, to cast their ballots and fill the congressional seat left vacant by the late Representative Raúl Grijalva. As made clear by the city's announcement, "Only voters who reside in CD7 are eligible to vote in this election," echoing the importance of verifying voters' districts through their interactive map.
The upcoming election is not just a local matter, given the extent of the district's reach across portions of six Arizona counties: Maricopa, Pima, Pinal, Cochise, Santa Cruz, and Yuma. Ensuring an efficient voting process, the Tolleson Civic Center has set specific voting hours, starting with early voting options on August 27, and culminating with Election Day itself, open from 6 AM to 7 PM, as stated on the official city website.
In line with the growing preference for mail-in ballots and early voting, the announcement also highlighted the August 25 deadline for voter registration and the start of early voting just two days later. Voters who find themselves on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) in CD7 can expect to automatically receive a mail-in ballot. For others who wish to opt for early voting, requests can be made by phone or through the Maricopa Vote request page. Keep in mind, "The deadline to request a ballot by mail is September 12 at 5 PM," and "The recommended last day to mail back your ballot is September 16," as mentioned on the city's website.
For those voting in person, the city advises bringing proper identification. Voting Centers and Drop Boxes will be available across Maricopa County starting August 27, with locations and hours announced last Friday, August 8. Voters can track their ballot at every step by texting JOIN to 628-683.
