Emergency services, inclusive of the Incident Response Team and the State Patrol, were quickly on the scene. The WSDOT advised drivers to seek out alternative routes as it became clear that the closure would extend for an undetermined period. "Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes as this is expected to be an extended closure," WSDOT Traffic stated in their social media update on the situation. The cause of the accident and the condition of the driver were not immediately disclosed by authorities.
Residents and those passing through were encouraged to closely monitor traffic updates and to consider public transportation options where feasible.
