The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of two individuals in connection to a homicide case in Riverview, a revelation that strikes at the tranquil facade of the suburban expanse. Arnaldo Cintron, 42, and Giselle Santiago Bonilla, 37, were taken into custody for their alleged roles in the death of Hiojaira Velez Bonilla, aged 42.
An intense investigation led authorities to Cintron, who is accused of fatally stabbing Velez Bonilla after an altercation. Giselle Bonilla, believed to have assisted Cintron in disposing of the body near the brackish mangroves of Weedon Island Preserve, off the Gandy Bridge was apprehended alongside him. Both suspects were found and arrested on the 10000 block of Parsons Street yesterday, which, as court documents indicate, a warrant had been issued for their arrest the day prior.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office press release, Cintron has been charged with second-degree murder using a weapon, unlawful holding or moving a dead human body under unapproved conditions, tampering with physical evidence, and tampering with a witness. Giselle Bonilla's charges include tampering with physical evidence, unlawful moving or holding a dead human body, tampering with a witness, and being an accessory after the fact.
"This was a brutal act of violence followed by a callous attempt to cover it up," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement released by the sheriff's office. He condemned the actions of the accused and praised the relentlessness of the detectives who brought them to account, ensuring, "they will now face the full weight of the law."
