Two suspects have now been formally charged in connection to a January homicide that concluded with police discovering a deceased 18-year-old male in a vehicle. The incident took place at 9642 Intervale Street at approximately 2:20 p.m. on January 20, where Tony Maximus Delao was found fatally shot. According to a news release from the City of Houston, Rodesha Smith, 17, and Clint L. Gillespie, 19, are facing capital murder charges in connection with Delao's death.
As stated in the city's official report, the shooting is believed to have taken place in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 9800 Hollock Street, with evidence suggesting that Delao managed to drive from the scene of the shooting before succumbing to his injuries. Despite being found unresponsive in the driver's seat of the vehicle when officers arrived, it was too late, and paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Furthering the investigation, Detectives P. Michon and A. Herrera from the HPD Homicide Division pieced together the series of events that led to the identification of the two suspects. As reported by the City of Houston, Smith was already in custody on a separate charge when she was charged with capital murder last Tuesday. Gillespie was apprehended the following day by officers from the Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
