A conflagration in Pittsburgh's Hazelwood neighborhood last night left two firefighters injured and multiple people displaced as a result of a fire that tore through several homes. According to WPXI, the fire ignited in a row house on the 5100 block of Chaplain Way and swiftly spread to three nearby buildings.
During the attempts to quell the flames, one firefighter sustained second-degree burns to his wrists, requiring hospital treatment, and another was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and shortness of breath; both responders are reportedly in stable condition.
The American Red Cross is active at the scene, assisting the affected residents, the exact number of whom is uncertain. The cause of the fire, still under investigation, remains unknown at this stage, as reported by WTAE.
