Over the past weekend, the Harris County Sheriff's Office found itself in the uncomfortable position of arresting two of its own on charges related to drunk driving. In separate incidents, Sgt. Dung Hoang and Deputy Ariana Isis Martinez both faced misdemeanor DWI charges, prompting the office to take swift disciplinary action.
As reported by Click2Houston, Sgt. Hoang, who has been with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for two decades, was relieved of duty yesterday. The sergeant, following his arrest on the misdemeanor charge, has posted bond and is set to appear in court on Friday.
In a related but separate case, the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office arrested Deputy Martinez, who was in the midst of her law enforcement journey, defined by a mere month of employment at the Sheriff’s Office and stationed in basic training at the academy. As per a disclosure from FOX 26 Houston, Martinez was allegedly caught speeding at 107 mph in a 65 mph zone, failed to signal a lane change, and reportedly recorded a 0.151 on a breathalyzer—nearly double the legal limit in Texas. Martinez's bond has been posted, and like Hoang, she is due in court on Friday.
