
An altercation at Green Valley Marketplace in Elkridge escalated into a shooting on Friday afternoon, leaving two people injured, according to the Howard County Police Department. The incident, which took place around 12:40 p.m. in the 7200 block of Montgomery Road, began with a clash between an adult man and a security guard stationed at the grocery store. FOX Baltimore reported that during the struggle, the security guard sustained a head injury.
In response to the altercation, a second armed security guard intervened, discharging his weapon and striking the man. Both the security guard who was injured and the man who was shot were promptly taken to Shock Trauma for treatment. Their current conditions remain undisclosed, but the security guard who fired his weapon was not harmed and is cooperating with the authorities, WMAR-2 News detailed.
Police ask if anyone witnessed the event or has information that could aid the investigation to come forward.
