In a recent incident exemplifying the hazards of online marketplaces, two juveniles were arrested following the armed robbery of an individual selling expensive shoes, as divulged by the Yuba County Sheriff's Department in an online statement. The victim had arranged through social media to sell several pairs of Jordan shoes, only to be met by a threatening firearm and the loss of his merchandise.
The Yuba County Sheriff's Office issued a cautionary tale last Friday, August 22 about the dangers associated with private sales executed on the internet after a sale gone wrong, when deputies were summoned to the 5800 block of Feather River Boulevard on August 19. It was reported to them that the victim, who came prepared to conduct a business transaction, was unexpectedly confronted by a loaded gun pointed by one of the suspects while the other made off with approximately $2,000 worth of Jordans, as described on the Yuba County Sheriff's Department Facebook page.
Diligence ensued as detectives obtained search warrants for residences in Marysville and Country Club Court, where five out of the eight stolen shoes were retrieved—their investigation leading to recover one pair actually worn by a suspect upon arrest. The stolen firearm used in the robbery was also located and confirmed by the victim to be the same from his harrowing encounter.
Both of the juvenile culprits, whose homes the missing shoes and firearm were found at, are facing charges connected to the armed robbery, with the Sheriff's Department's social media post confirming their arrest and booking.
