Last Friday morning, Calaveras County Sheriff's deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a licensed cannabis facility in Copperopolis. The property owner reported the incident around 4:00 a.m. Video surveillance showed three armed suspects at the 1000 block of Bonanza Mine Road, as stated by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies tried to stop a vehicle, but it fled, leading to a pursuit on Highway 4 toward Stockton. The California Highway Patrol and Angels Camp Police Department joined the chase. The vehicle crashed on Highway 99, and the suspects ran on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and eventually caught two of the three suspects, as mentioned by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, "Detectives were requested to assist with the investigation," which led to evidence linking a burglary at a cannabis site and a crash scene. Elias Garcia, 20, from San Jose, was arrested and booked into Calaveras County Jail on charges including felony burglary, conspiracy, evasion, child abuse, and resisting arrest. Authorities are still looking for a third suspect. Anyone with information can contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-6030.
