A wheel theft went awry for two suspects in Northpointe Boulevard last Friday, according to the Harris County Constable's Office. Deputies quickly responded to a reported theft in progress, finding that wheels and tires had been removed from a vehicle by the duo, who then attempted a hasty retreat from the scene. In the commotion, reports indicated that one of the suspects tried to run over the officers on foot as they made their escape.
In a pursuit that encompassed both a high-speed chase and a foot race, deputies managed to safely arrest both suspects. These men, identified by the Constable's Office as Rondell Brown and Keanon Scott, were discovered to still be in possession of the stolen property. Constable Mark Herman's Office shared that Scott had a prior history, being out on bond for charges including Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
"Rondell Brown was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felony Theft. His bond was set at $10,000.00 out of the 486th District Court," reads the statement from the Constable's Office. Concerning Scott's current legal predicament, "Keanon Scott was transported to a local hospital for treatment of an injury sustained while fleeing and he is currently wanted by law enforcement for Felony Theft and Assault of a Peace Officer," the Constable's post detailed.
