Two Tooele County, Utah, residents face multiple charges, including kidnapping and assault, after an incident involving two motorcyclists on the Skull Valley Indian Reservation. Alex Doran Craig, 32, joins his codefendant Russell Allen, 50, in a recent federal grand jury superseding indictment as announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

According to court documents, the pair confronted the motorcyclists in April 2025, accusing them of trespassing and proceeding to bind, threaten, and assault them. In the course of the alleged incident, the victims were zip-tied and robbed of their belongings, which included their motorcycles, cell phones, wallets, and a GoPro camera. They were later left in a remote desert area after being driven at high speeds, forced to make a grueling trek of over 10 miles for help.

The initial appearance for Craig and Allen was scheduled for July 31. This case, overseen by Assistant United States Attorney Sam Pead, is under the investigation of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti stated: "This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice."

The operation aims to tackle challenges, including illegal immigration as well as violent crime associated with cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Furthermore, this case ties into Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program targeting a reduction in violent crime and gun violence, an initiative bolstered by a violent crime reduction strategy launched in May 2021.
