The U.S. Marshals Service's WANTED Task Force had been tracking a man wanted for a federal probation violation related to alien smuggling charges. According to KTAR News, the suspect was observed leaving a residence in Chandler, which triggered a pursuit by task force members.
Efforts to apprehend the man escalated as he attempted to elude capture. Initially employing less-lethal tools in the arrest attempt, the situation quickly deteriorated. "During the encounter, the fugitive produced a gun, resulting in him being struck by police gunfire and succumbing to his wounds," detailed a statement from the U.S. Marshals Service, reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
