Following a jarring but ultimately unsubstantiated report of an armed individual on the University of Pittsburgh's campus, the situation has been deemed safe by authorities. Pittsburgh police were summoned to the scene near the Barco Law School after a call came this afternoon reporting a potential armed person lurking on campus. Both local officers and the University of Pittsburgh Police Department responded promptly, conducting a meticulous sweep of the law library, as reported by WTAE.
Despite the urgency that such a report naturally commands, it was soon determined to be without merit. "Officers responded and found that the report was unfounded," per WPXI's coverage of the incident.
The law building was cleared without incident, allowing the pulse of campus life to return to its regular rhythm. Officials assured there was no threat to the public at this time.
