On Interstate 205 between Tualatin and Clackamas, right lane and shoulder closures will occur in September and October for construction. The work, part of the I-205 Bus on Shoulder Project, will move rumble strips and install new signs, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Construction will begin on September 2 and is expected to finish by the end of October. Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday, between Sunnybrook Boulevard and Stafford Road. On some weekends, work may run from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Drivers should plan accordingly, as reported by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The I-205 corridor experiences frequent traffic congestion. Oregon Department of Transportation, in collaboration with local transit agencies, is implementing the Bus on Shoulder initiative, which allows authorized transit vehicles to use the highway shoulder when traffic drops below 35 mph. The project involves construction and aims to provide faster, more reliable travel for buses during peak traffic periods.
