Camden County drivers, prepare to adjust your routes next week as multiple roadwork projects are set to roll out across the area, potentially impacting your daily commute. With work planned for the week of August 18 to August 22, Commissioner Al Dyer, the liaison to the Department of Public Works, urges road users to "plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations." Highlighting safety concerns, Dyer also emphasized the importance of slowing down and staying alert for crew members and debris in construction areas, according to Camden County's official announcement.

On the hit list for closures is Federal Street, where NJ American Water will be toiling away on Monday and Tuesday, necessitating a full road closure at the intersection with South 17th Street from 6 a.m. Monday to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Not to be outdone, PSE&G is set to begin its work on Mt. Ephraim Avenue, which will see a full road closure between Carl Miller Boulevard and Ferry Avenue, lasting the entire workweek. In a tag-team effort, more closures will follow on Ferry Avenue with a partial shuttering on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. westbound between 6th and Masters streets.

Road work continues as NJ American Water takes on River Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to closures between Bergen and Beideman avenues, while North 27th Street gets similar treatment at the intersection with River Avenue from Wednesday to Thursday. PSE&G targets Westfield Avenue for a stretch between Rosedale Avenue and North 36th Street, applying full closures on Wednesday and Thursday. All these closures are expected to cause ripple effects of detours and slower traffic in the Camden area.

Other towns under the hammer include Clementon, with Berlin-Clementon Road facing a full shutdown between White Horse and Higgins avenues throughout the week. Gloucester Township's Blenheim-Erial Road will partially close southbound at the Black Horse Pike intersection from Monday to Friday. In Lindenwold, East Linden Avenue will be closed fully between Irving Avenue and Emerson Street, while Merchantville's East Park Drive will see a full road closure between Center Street and East Chestnut Avenue. For Winslow Township, Erial Road is slated to be closed between Adres and Sicklerville roads, as detailed by Camden County's update.

The Camden County Department of Public Works, tasked with maintaining over 1,200 miles of county roadways as well as bridges and dams, is dedicated to improving motorist and pedestrian safety through ongoing construction projects and maintenance activities. Situated in Lindenwold, the Public Works Department assures residents that it stands ready 24/7 to address any road-related issues that may arise during these times of infrastructure enhancement.
