As the Logan community prepares to honor two fallen officers, the Utah State University campus braces for significant disruptions due to the expected influx of mourners. Funeral services for the Tremonton-Garland police officers, who were tragically killed in the line of duty, are scheduled this week at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, according to USU Today.

The ceremonies are set to commence at 10 a.m. this Thursday for Officer Eric Estrada, and similarly on Friday for Sgt. Lee Sorensen. These services are open to the public, and as a result, the campus is expecting to see thousands come to pay their respects. "I want to thank our campus for their patience with any disruptions later this week as we all work to support our local community during this very difficult time," USU Interim President Alan L. Smith said, as per USU Today, signaling that the typical university hustle is bound to momentarily give way to a solemn gathering of blue.

USU has taken measures to manage the anticipated parking and traffic challenges. Designated parking lots near the Spectrum will be reserved for funeral attendees. Campus regulars with parking passes are asked to make alternative arrangements and to be ready to accommodate these temporarily repurposed spaces. The affected lots should reopen later in the afternoon, around 1 p.m., on both days of the services.

Faculty, students, and staff with inquiries or concerns leading up to these events have been directed to contact USU parking services for guidance. The university is actively working to ensure the disruptions are handled with care for those mourning and for those navigating their academic and professional routines amidst these events.
