A recent social media outreach by the Vacaville Police Department noted that the state saw over 3,500 people reported missing last year. The Vacaville Police Department, while recounting the community's missing persons, asked the public for help, stressing that their search for those lost continues unabated.
Among the cases highlighted by the department is that of Luther Harris, a 37-year-old father of two, whose disappearance from his apartment complex's parking lot on April 30, 2020, is still unsolved. Harris was slated to celebrate Mother's Day with his family, but never made contact, prompting his mother to report him missing. He was last seen wearing, as provided by the Vacaville Police Department, "a Black male adult; 5’8” in height with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes."
Additionally, the cold case of Teresa Wismer-McKinley has not been forgotten. On September 16, 1979, the 27-year-old Vacaville resident and mother went to a local park to read a book but never returned. Her vehicle was abandoned at Lake Berryessa, a location familiar to locals as a calm rest stop, weeks later, without a trace of Teresa nearby. It's been over 40 years, and according to the police department's post, her whereabouts remain unknown.
Betty “Behy” Arrieta's case presents a puzzling twist. After leaving for a job in Sonoma County, the 24-year-old's concerning text messages to a friend led to her being reported missing in April 2020. Following a stint in an area hospital, Arrieta's social media activity sparked intermittent hope, with new photos surfacing on her accounts. However, as the Vacaville Police Department's social media update suggests, the real Betty remains.
The Vacaville Police Department urges anyone with information about these cases or the whereabouts of the individuals to contact their Investigations unit at (707) 449-5286.
