Violence pierced the tranquility of Long Beach last night with separate incidents of a shooting and stabbing, leaving communities shaken as authorities investigate the circumstances. According to the Long Beach Police Department Blotter, at approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday, officers rushed to the 5200 block of Atlantic Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire.
They discovered a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department quickly transported him to a local hospital, with injuries reported as non-life-threatening.
The night unfolded further with a stabbing near Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street earlier today, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. First responders found a woman suffering from stab wounds, described as non-life-threatening, to the her upper body.
Police apprehended 29-year-old David James Woods, identified as a resident of Long Beach, after he initially attempted to flee. Woods faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, and he is being held on a $30,000 bail, as per the Long Beach Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
