In a recent educational push, the Wake County Sheriff's Office brought their Fatal Vision Goggle presentation to the Saint Monica Center, giving local kids an up-close lesson on the dangers of impaired driving, as per their social media announcement.
According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, during the session, Deputies Yarborough, David, and Brown equipped students with specialized goggles that simulate the disorienting effects of alcohol and drugs, offering a hands-on experience that showcased how these substances can dramatically skew balance, vision, and judgment as they tried navigating through the world with their faculties compromised, kids gained a stark perspective on why driving under the influence is a risk not worth taking.
Making this initiative more accessible, the Sheriff's team has opened the door for schools or events to host similar presentations; they urge those interested to reach out for an opportunity to educate more young minds on this critical issue.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is promoting community safety by raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.
