WakeMed is set to expand its healthcare footprint in Fuquay-Varina, bringing a new healthplex to the growing town. The organization has secured the certificate of need (CON) for the new facility, the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Healthplex, which aims to serve the community with around-the-clock emergency care and additional health services. This development marks WakeMed's fifth healthplex addition and will feature its ninth full-service emergency department.
The proposed 25,000-square-foot healthplex will be conveniently located on N. Main Street, adjacent to the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Medical Park. With construction expected to kick off early 2026, the site will include a 24/7 emergency department equipped with 12 treatment rooms. Moreover, the healthplex will come complete with diagnostic imaging, lab services, and a pharmacy. It is anticipated that the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Emergency Department will deliver care for an estimated 9,300 patients in its inaugural year.
Fuquay-Varina Mayor Blake Massengill expressed enthusiasm about the healthcare investment, telling local authorities, "Fuquay-Varina is a future-focused community, dedicated to delivering exceptional services and fostering a safe, vibrant environment for our residents."
