WakeMed is set to expand its healthcare footprint in Fuquay-Varina, bringing a new healthplex to the growing town. The organization has secured the certificate of need (CON) for the new facility, the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Healthplex, which aims to serve the community with around-the-clock emergency care and additional health services. This development marks WakeMed's fifth healthplex addition and will feature its ninth full-service emergency department.
The proposed 25,000-square-foot healthplex will be conveniently located on N. Main Street, adjacent to the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Medical Park. With construction expected to kick off early 2026, the site will include a 24/7 emergency department equipped with 12 treatment rooms. Moreover, the healthplex will come complete with diagnostic imaging, lab services, and a pharmacy. It is anticipated that the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Emergency Department will deliver care for an estimated 9,300 patients in its inaugural year.
Fuquay-Varina Mayor Blake Massengill expressed enthusiasm about the healthcare investment, telling local authorities, "Fuquay-Varina is a future-focused community, dedicated to delivering exceptional services and fostering a safe, vibrant environment for our residents." He added, "I am very confident, in WakeMed’s commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible healthcare to our community, and we welcome this additional investment in our community."
The latest WakeMed project stands as a testament to the organization's commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the growing town of Fuquay-Varina. As the region continues to expand, the need for medical services grows in parallel. The forthcoming healthplex is poised to be a significant asset to the area, offering vital healthcare resources to the residents. The expansion also denotes a strategic move for WakeMed, solidifying their presence and their dedication to the community's well-being.
