The Washington State Department of Health has announced disciplinary actions against health care providers as part of its oversight responsibilities. The department’s Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions, and advisory committees to set and enforce licensing standards for more than 80 health professions, including dentists, nurses, and counselors.
According to the Washington State Department of Health, disciplinary information specific to medical doctors and physician assistants is handled by the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) and can be found on the WMC website. Inquiries about these cases can also be sent to the commission via email.
The Washington State Department of Health provides a "Health Care Provider Lookup" tool on its website, located under the "Find it Fast" section. This tool allows the public to view provider license status, expiration and renewal dates, and records of disciplinary actions dating back to July 1998.
Consumers who suspect professional misconduct may file complaints by calling 360-236-4700. This initiates a review of the health care provider’s conduct.
