Heads up, Waukesha residents and commuters: On Labor Day (September 1), Route 1 and Metro Lift will run on a Sunday schedule. The Transit Center will be closed, and no other Metro routes will be running. Full service will start again on Tuesday, September 2, according to the City of Waukesha.
The Downtown Transit Center at 212 E. St. Paul Ave. offers indoor seating, restrooms, a customer service window, and printed schedules. Parking is available above the center for a fee. Each bus route has its own clearly marked bus bay, making it easy to find your ride, as reported by the City of Waukesha.
But bear in mind, if your journey extends to the bounds of Waukesha County Commuter Routes 904 & 905, these will not be your chariots on September 1. They, too, will be taking a holiday, resuming normal service following the Labor Day calendar pause. For those relying on these routes, alternative travel arrangements will be the order of the day, as per the City of Waukesha.
