Wayne County’s East Ash Street will be expanded from three lanes to four with a raised median. The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greenwood Middle School, 3209 E. Ash St., to discuss this project, which also includes two multilane roundabouts and a new traffic alignment at U.S. 70. Residents can share their feedback at the open house.
The project will upgrade about one mile of East Ash Street (U.S. 70 Business) to handle more traffic. Plans include roundabouts at Oak Forest Road and Meadow Road/Commercial Drive, a redesigned intersection at U.S. 70 to improve right turns, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side, and a 10-foot multi-use path on the south side, according to NCDOT.
For those who can't make the meeting or prefer the comfort of their couch, project details are up for viewing on the NCDOT public input website. Here, folks can submit their two cents on the project or reach out directly by calling 984-205-6615 or by emailing the team at [email protected]. Just make sure to put forward any comments by Sept. 19 to have them considered for the final design draft.
If you need special services to participate in the upcoming meeting, NCDOT encourages you to contact Josh Nguyen at 919-707-6059 or swing an email to [email protected].
