Motorists planning to navigate Baltimore County via I-795 need to brace for some congestion and consider alternative routes over the next couple of August weekends. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) has slated extensive concrete repair work on northbound lanes starting tomorrow, as reported by FOX Baltimore.
The highway administration has charted out a lane closure schedule which will kick in with a double-lane closure from 9 p.m. tomorrow, through 8 a.m. Monday, August 18. Following this, a subsequent single-lane closure is set from 9 p.m. Friday, August 22, to 8 a.m. Monday, August 25, as detailed by WBALTV. Drivers should expect lanes to remain closed, even without workers present, to allow the new concrete time to cure and undergo necessary testing.
To avoid delays, those heading northbound on I-795 between I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and Owings Mills Boulevard are advised to allow for extra travel time. Alternative routes suggested include MD 140 (Reisterstown Road), especially considering the expected increase in travel density due to the construction activity and lane reductions.
