According to an announcement from the City of West Allis, if your garbage and recycling are usually picked up on Monday, you should expect collection on Tuesday, September 2 instead.
Further shifts in the schedule mean that Tuesday pick-ups will also be pushed to Wednesday, September 3, in some cases. If your collection day is Wednesday, brace for potential delays that could stretch to Thursday. Those usually serviced on Thursday and Friday should anticipate similar one-day delays, with the potential for collection to occur the next day. "Crews may work ahead or fall behind due to the shortened work week," the City of West Allis announcement explained
Residents can stay updated on these shifts by signing up for email and mobile notifications through the City of West Allis app. There's an emphasis on staying informed, should there be any additional deviations from the posted adjustments, especially given that the fluidity of holidays can result in unforeseen changes.
In terms of public access, the Municipal Yard will be taking a break starting Saturday, August 30, and won't reopen until after September 1. Keep in mind, the West Allis Public Library, Senior Center, and other city facilities will not be open on Labor Day itself. For those looking to dispose of brush that week, you'll have to hold off, as there, will be no brush collection service, as per the City of West Allis.
