Chaos permeated the streets of Fells Point, Baltimore, where an eruption of gunfire late Thursday night led to a woman sustaining a graze wound and a separate street altercation involving a local business owner in proximity. As reported by Fox Baltimore, several gunshots were captured by storefront surveillance, followed by Baltimore Police arriving at the 800 block of South Broadway. They discovered a 31-year-old woman with a graze wound to her arm.
A witness, in the chaos following the gunshots, noticed that the suspect could be a juvenile, dressed entirely in black, according to the dispatch audio from 911. Searching for evidence well into Friday, a heavy police presence was observed by WBAL-TV. Bullets damaged a window at Pitango Gelato & Coffee and struck the counter inside the store, which was closed at the time of the incident.
Concerns about the community's safety were highlighted by residents, as one Fells Point resident, Karen, told WBAL-TV in an interview, "We just need to get the guns off the street. I'm a veteran, and you just say, 'Please get the guns off the street.' That's all. Give us funding to get the guns out of here." No arrests have been disclosed so far, and details regarding what specifically incited the shooting have not been released by authorities.
