A woman, 35, is currently in critical condition following a gunshot wound to the head discovered after Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call yesterday morning. Found in a truck outside what appears to be a vacant home on Henze Road, southeast of Bexar County, the details around the incident remain under investigation by law enforcement officials.
The suspected shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. on the 15500 block of Henze Road, near Interstate 37 and Southton Road, according to KTSA. Deputies found a handgun inside the vehicle at the scene.
Sheriff Javier Salazar indicated, in a statement obtained by KSAT, that the woman might have been shot at a different location, despite being found at the Henze Road property. Initially, the victim and a 67-year-old man, who is reportedly in a "romantic relationship" with her, were at the location apparently to collect scrap metal before an argument transpired.
The 67-year-old man has been detained as a person of interest in connection with the shooting. "At this point, we don’t have anybody saying that they saw him shoot her," Salazar said, "just that there was an argument and then either, during the course of that argument or soon thereafter, gunshots were heard." Two other witnesses have also been detained as investigations proceed, as reported by KSAT.
BCSO is asking residents in the Henze Road area to come forward with any video footage related to the incident. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office invites those with information to reach them at 210-335-6000.
