A Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force investigation has led to the indictment of Jonathan Neff, 33, from Woodsfield, on multiple felony rape charges, after allegations of sexually assaulting a minor surfaced. Neff is charged with nine felonies, and the purported incidents occurred between January and July 2024, the Noble County grand jury has stated.
The public's participation is sought in the wake of these allegations, Noble County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kelly McGilton, the task force director, is urging anyone with additional information about Neff to step forward, their lines are open, and tips can be shared at 740-541-6474, according to the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
The task force, spearheaded by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, is a collective effort involving multiple counties' sheriff's offices, city police departments, correctional facilities, investigative units, and prosecutors' offices, as well as nonprofit organizations specializing in rescue and restoration efforts for trafficking victims in Southeastern Ohio.
Accused individuals like Neff are deemed innocent until proven guilty, a cornerstone of the justice system, the grand jury indictment being only an accusation; meanwhile, the task force intensifies its plea for community vigilance and support to bring any further hidden crimes to light and assist survivors in finding justice.
