A serious incident involving a wrong-way driver was captured on dashcam footage, resulting in two separate crashes on I-45 in north Houston early this morning. As reported by Click2Houston, a blue Ford F-150 was seen traveling north in the southbound lanes around 1 a.m., just north of 610. The driver eventually collided head-on with another vehicle, causing "moderate" injuries to the two people inside, who were then rushed to a trauma center for treatment.
In an attempt to avoid the wreckage from the initial collision, another vehicle crashed, although police stated that this driver was not injured. The wrong-way driver has been detained by authorities for questioning, and the circumstances leading to the crash are currently under investigation. The identity of this individual has not been revealed as of yet.
Additional details from a FOX 26 report include a statement from Xavien Riascos, a witness who was driving home from the airport, saying, "they saw the heavy debris on North Freeway from the wrong-way crash and attempted to avoid it." However, their efforts were in vain as their vehicle was rear-ended while slowing down to stop. The condition of the individuals involved in the head-on crash remains undisclosed, adding to the gravity of the event.
