An 11-year-old student from Cerbat Elementary School in Kingman, Arizona, has been taken into custody following the discovery of a marijuana vape and weapons in his backpack. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office responded to the school the morning of September 22, after school officials reported the student for possessing illegal items on campus. FOX 10 Phoenix detailed that the items included a "realistic looking pellet gun," a marijuana vape, and a pocketknife.

According to News3LV, the situation unfolded shortly after 9:30 a.m. when it was brought to the attention of the authorities by staff that the student had shown the vape to other students. With the aid of deputies, the other illegal items were found after the student was removed from the class, showing the backpack contained more than it seemed.

No threats were made to fellow students, nor were the weapons displayed, the sheriff's office clarified. Following the discovery and without any commotion, the student was detained and is currently facing charges for Interference/ Disruption of an Educational Institution and Minor in Possession of Marijuana, as per officials. The child is now booked into Mohave County Juvenile Detention, marking a stark entry to a place where desks and playgrounds should define his environment.

Kingman, the location of this incident, sits approximately 115 miles south of Las Vegas. The case is ongoing as the investigation continues to piece together the motivations and origins of an 11-year-old's decision.
