An 18-year-old Victorville man was arrested on kidnapping charges after a domestic violence incident in Apple Valley, authorities said. The San Bernardino Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that deputies responded to an unknown problem at around 2:23 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Atoka Road and Roanoke Road. According to the SBSD Apple Valley Police Department, the suspect, identified as Keveandre Maye, and the 18-year-old female victim were in a heated argument while Maye was driving.
During the altercation, Maye reportedly assaulted the victim and took away her cell phone, "preventing her from contacting emergency services," the SBSD Apple Valley Police Department detailed. Furthermore, he refused to let the victim leave the vehicle, effectively detaining her against her will. It wasn't until later that the victim managed to contact 911. Maye is currently held at the High Desert Detention Center with bail set at $80,000.
The department's press release urges anyone with information to contact the Apple Valley Sheriff's Station or Sheriff's Dispatch. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the We-Tip Hotline or via the We-Tip website.
