
The Metropolitan Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a juvenile in Northwest Washington, D.C. The incident, which resulted in the death of 17-year-old Angel Ernesto Dominquez, occurred on May 29, 2025. According to MPD's official release, officers arrived at the 900 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest, after receiving reports of gunfire at approximately 3:07 p.m. on the said date.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Dominquez in a critical state, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rapidly transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS, where, despite all lifesaving measures undertaken, he was pronounced dead. Over three months later, on September 15, the police had to swiftly act to arrest 20-year-old Carlton Simon of Northeast, D.C. Simon has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed (Gun) following a warrant issued by the DC Superior Court.
MPD's announcement of the arrest marks a grim milestone in a case that has weighed heavily on the local community. The young age of the victim has made the incident especially harrowing, highlighting ongoing concerns about gun violence affecting urban youth. The suspect, Simon, now faces the judicial system where he will have to answer to the charges leveled against him in the death of Dominquez.
