In a deadly encounter fueled by romantic entanglements, 21-year-old Mason Ray Rodriguez has been charged with the murder of Enrique Javier Perales, as confirmed by Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County. The altercation took place Monday night at a residence on Calle Fincias, situated in far West Bexar County. According to KSAT, the victim, Perales, was shot at least "a dozen times" and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.
Following the incident, Rodriguez, who reportedly fled the scene with several persons of interest in a vehicle, surrendered himself to BCSO investigators. An effort to dispose of the weapon, a 9 mm, and a "high-caliber magazine" was made by Rodriguez, but both items were recovered by authorities, KTSA reports. Currently, the possibility of additional arrests in this case has not been ruled out by law enforcement.
The root of this violent act appears to be a love triangle, where both Rodriguez and Perales were reportedly involved with a same woman. Details on whether she was present at the time of the shooting have not been disclosed. The alleged crime has shaken the community, bringing a tragic end to what might have been a volatile relationship between three individuals. Presently detained at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, Rodriguez's bond has been set at $250,000.
