Stockton was the scene of a tragic shooting yesterday morning, when a 60-year-old man was gunned down in broad daylight. According to a post from the Stockton Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Hazelton and Harrison. Responding officers found the victim with a gunshot wound and attempted lifesaving measures before he was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the man later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators quickly assumed control of the case, signaling a serious turn in the hunt for those responsible. Later in the day, at around 5 p.m. a suspect vehicle linked to the crime was spotted. Collaboration between Stockton PD's Gang Street Enforcement Team and Deputies from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office led to a traffic stop where 72-year-old James Allen was arrested without further incident. He's now facing charges for homicide and narcotics offenses.
While the rapid arrest might offer some semblance of justice to the community, the police have indicated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Allen, meanwhile, has been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
