Attention Milwaukee’s 6th District gardeners! Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs is now accepting nominations for the 2025 6th District Landscape Awards. Part of the Clean City Project, the awards celebrate residents who take pride in making their yards and gardens beautiful, according to the City of Milwaukee.
The awards are open to any resident who believes their garden or landscape stands out, or who knows a neighbor whose yard is deserving of some fanfare. With Coggs at the helm, dedicated to improving neighborhood aesthetics, the awards don't just acknowledge the green-thumbed among us, but also work as an incentive to keep the district blooming year after year. As reported by an official flyer from the City of Milwaukee, nominees can put forward their own garden or someone can nominate another's well-tended plot.
There's more to these awards than mere recognition. Acknowledging that eye-catching neighborhoods can be a catalyst for community pride and participation, Alderwoman Coggs stated, "Neighborhood beautification can go a long way toward enhancing pride and engagement in an area, and at the heart of neighborhood beautification are residents who work diligently to maintain their properties to help improve overall quality of life." This sentiment, and direct quotes of encouragement from Alderwoman Coggs' for nominations, appear on a flyer available on the City of Milwaukee website.
