The Milwaukee Police Department has successfully located Elma Edwards, an 83-year-old woman previously reported as critically missing, as confirmed in a recent update, which stated that she was found and is now safe. The search for Edwards began after she was last heard from on the evening of September 10, near 70th Street and Courtland Avenue in Milwaukee, WISN first reported. Edwards, who stands at 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds, has black and gray hair and brown eyes; she has been described as having a thin build, and there was initial uncertainty regarding her last worn outfit.
According to information shared by the Milwaukee police, Edwards has had multiple instances of going missing over the current year, her whereabouts and safety causing concern due to her status as a critically missing person—a designation reflecting her vulnerability; the statement by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel states. The initial reports did not provide details on what may have led to Edwards' repeated disappearances; however, police emphasized her need for assistance when missing and encouraged public vigilance in these instances.
Before she was located, the Milwaukee Police Department had requested the public's assistance through a Silver Alert, expanding the outreach and aiming to leverage community support to ensure her timely and safe return. Edwards was last seen in the area of 70th and Hampton, and the public was instructed to contact MPD at 414-935-7272 with any information that could aid in the search, FOX6 News reported.
