
The Adams County Sheriff's Office has advised the public to avoid the area around E62nd Ave and Broadway following a shooting incident earlier today. Authorities are still investigating the scene of the crime, which has resulted in traffic disruptions, particularly on the north side of Sinclair, where east and westbound lanes are blocked. Officials detained a person of interest who is currently being questioned in connection with the shooting.
The incident was first reported at approximately 8 am, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, when deputies responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of E 62nd and Broadway. During the incident, a victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower leg and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. The Adams County Sheriff's Office also stated, "The intersection is clear but east and west bound traffic on the north side of Sinclair is blocked."
While the identity of the person of interest has not been released, the Sheriff's Office has confirmed that this individual is undergoing questioning to ascertain their involvement in the events of the morning. Media presence has been directed to convene at the northeast corner of E 62nd and Broadway, near the Target Sortation Center, for updates and official statements.
