
Tragedy struck Beaver County last night when Kendric Curtis, an 18-year-old Aliquippa High School student, was fatally shot by an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). As reported by WPXI, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Waugaman Street, and Curtis was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed his passing following the shooting.
Details surrounding the fatal encounter remain scarce, with authorities providing sparse information. Neighbors in the vicinity recounted hearing four gunshots that night. The investigation into the circumstances leading to the gunfire, now involving the ATF was working alongside the FBI, has been taken over by the Pennsylvania State Police, as explained by CBS News Pittsburgh.
Aliquippa's city leadership and educational authorities are working to provide support in the wake of the shooting. The school superintendent, Dr. Phillip K Woods, addressed the tragedy, offering sympathies to the family and sending a letter explaining that resources would be made available to students. According to the same CBS News Pittsburgh report, a Trauma Support Team was stationed at Aliquippa Junior/Senior High School, and additional support was promised throughout the day as necessary.
