
A fire at Adair Place Apartments in Wayne County near Goldsboro sent three people to the hospital and displaced 50 residents. CBS17 reported that the blaze was first called in just before 2 p.m. Sunday at 206 Keller Way Drive. Firefighters from the Goldsboro Fire Department and several volunteer departments contained the fire shortly after 4:30 p.m.
All residents have been accounted for, though officials have not released details on the conditions of those hospitalized. One resident, Flotilla Stewart, told WRAL she called 911 after noticing flames and went through the building warning neighbors to evacuate.
Some residents described seeing people jump from windows to escape. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced families.
ABC11’s Chopper 11 aerial footage showed two of the three-story buildings with severe damage, including collapsed roofs. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, as per abc11.
