The City of Arlington is reaching out to animal lovers with a plea and a deal: adopt a pet this fall and save more than just one life. From now through October, Arlington Animal Services is offering significant discounts on pet adoptions as part of The Rescue Effect initiative, spearheaded by the ASPCA. Instead of the usual $90 to $100 fee, adopters can bring home a new furry family member for just $25, a price that includes a multitude of services such as vaccinations, spaying or neutering procedures, and a microchip.
In an effort to alleviate the pressing capacity issues at Tarrant County's animal shelters, which have remained inundated throughout the year, Arlington aims to create a rescue ripple effect through these adoption specials. As the City of Arlington notes, "When you adopt, you bring home a loving new friend, and another animal gets the space and care in the shelter they need until finding their home." With over 4,494 animals taken in by Arlington Animal Services so far this year, the push for adoption is more urgent than ever.
Pet adoption specials are often welcomed by potential pet owners, especially considering the added value that comes with the reduced adoption fee. All services bundled in the $25 special, such as heartworm testing for canine companions and FIV/FELV testing for feline friends, cater to the overall well-being of the adopted pets. Animal Services Manager Ashley Woolnough was quoted as saying, per the City of Arlington, "Arlington Animal Services is excited to collaborate with the ASPCA because when we work together, we save more lives."
