As the nation approaches the 24-year mark since the 9/11 attacks, Arlington's Veterans Memorial Foundation is gearing up to host a tribute event that honours both the day and the spirit of patriotism it embodies. Slated for Thursday, September 11 at 7 p.m., the "American Soldier 9/11, a Tribute to Toby Keith" will take place at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington, as per an announcement on the City of Arlington's official website.
Taking center stage is the American Soldier, Toby Keith Tribute band, led by Texan DeWayne Terry. This free concert is more than just a musical event; it is a communal call to support those who have served the nation. Proceeds from the evening's raffle tickets and sales of American flags are earmarked for the Arlington Veterans Memorial Foundation – a commitment echoed in the words, "This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and support a worthy cause," stated by Event Co-host Clete McAlister in the announcement.
Founded with the mission to honor military veterans, the non-profit Arlington Veterans Memorial Foundation is instrumental in creating and maintaining memorials at Veterans Park. Their efforts are not relegated to one day, but rather, they span the calendar, from fundraising for the Arlington Veterans Memorial Master Plan to lending their support to the annual Veterans Day commemoration. Perennial focus remains steadfast on the Memorial to the Fallen, paying homage to Arlington residents who laid down their lives in conflicts of the past and present.
