Nearly six years after the mysterious death of 61-year-old Winter Garden business owner Michael Majed Kotait, an arrest has finally been made, bringing a glimmer of resolution to a case that has long since weighed heavily on the community and the Kotait family. Darrell Devon Bogle, 26, was arrested in connection with the murder, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office announced. Kotait's lifeless body was discovered in rural Wildwood in November 2019, a grim find that led to an extensive investigation.

Bogle’s apprehension materialized while detectives were conducting surveillance at The Mark at Wildwood Apartments in Oxford, Sheriff’s officers located and detained Bogle who was wanted on a murder warrant, and after his detainment a stolen handgun and a swath of narcotics were discovered, signifying not only a breach in the law of a more severe and visceral nature but also those that corrode society through substances. Materials seized from Bogle included methamphetamine, fentanyl, prescription pills, crack cocaine, THC wax, marijuana, Suboxone, and other drug paraphernalia, Villages-News.com reported. His charges are compounded by the gravity of these additional findings, ensuring his detainment without bond and amplifying the severity of potential judicial outcomes.

The long reach of time has not swept away the memory of Kotait, remembered by his family as a loving husband and father. Randa Kotait, his daughter, has previously implored the public for help, a gesture of hope rooted in the belief that there are those out there who possess pieces of the truth yet to be unveiled. "I know that there are people who know what happened, and I’m just begging for you to help us," Randa Kotait stated, as reported by ClickOrlando.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office, steadfast in its pursuit of justice and resolution, is conducting an active investigation, and a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that may lead to other arrests in this case, split between a contribution from the Florida Sheriff’s Association’s Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program and Crimeline.
