An Atlanta-based nonprofit, Men Opposing Sex Trafficking or MOST, has claimed its third Guinness World Record in under a year for the longest kickball game marathon. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, this endurance challenge began at 8 a.m. last Friday and concluded after noon yesterday—amounting to 52 grueling hours of continuous play. This feat surpasses the decade-old record of 51 hours which was previously held by Ohio high school students.
The extraordinary attempt took place at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia, demanding the presence of at-least 40 participants on the field throughout the event. These volunteers, composed of 13 women and 27 men, adhered to stringent guidelines, stepping away only for Spartan five-minute bathroom breaks every two hours, while managing the necessities of eating and sleeping on-site.
According to a CBS 58 report, MOST's motivation for setting this new record extends far beyond athletic prowess. These events serve as a platform to generate funds and heighten public awareness in the global fight against human trafficking. Previously, the organization set the records for the longest softball and basketball games, both clocking in at 121 hours each.
MOST's endeavor has showcased a dramatic intersection of athletic fortitude and philanthropic ambition, as Bruce Deel, CEO and Founder of MOST, revealed in a press release. "What we’ve learned in the process of breaking two world records is that when you capture people’s attention, you can also capture their hearts," Deel professed. He further elaborated, “Ultimately, our objective is to raise awareness about the scourge of sex trafficking and provide the tools for everyday people to help stamp it out, and as we have become known for these grueling physical challenges over the last 12 months, we have seen a spike in interest and raised over $800,000 to drive our core mission.” These funds are pivotal in advancing the resources and support needed by survivors of human trafficking, as noted by CBS 58.
While specifics of the latest fundraiser are yet to be released, further information about MOST's continuing efforts and contributions can be found on the organization's website.
