Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will speak to Stratford High School students who faced backlash over their attempt to establish a Turning Point USA-affiliated club called Club America.
A private message about the club and its search for sponsors was shared on social media, prompting an activist to discourage sponsorship, which drew criticism from Paxton and other free speech advocates, according to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Paxton praised the students for continuing their efforts and framed the event as support for their right to free expression. The gathering will be held tomorrow at The Moran Hotel’s La Scala Ballroom, 800 Sorella Ct., Houston, TX, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. CT and the program starting at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The event is open to the public, with priority given to student attendees.
