
The Austin community is grappling with another violent incident following a deadly shooting that took place on Saturday night. The Austin Police Department confirmed that they responded to reports of shots fired at 1430 Frontier Valley Drive at approximately 10:39 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a Hispanic male showing no signs of life, with evident trauma suggesting a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Mario Palacios-Carrillo, was declared deceased at the scene shortly after at 10:56 p.m. This tragedy marks the city's 44th homicide of the year, shedding a stark light on the ongoing battle against violent crime.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive homicide investigation, calling upon the expertise of Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists to uncover the events leading to Palacios-Carrillo's untimely death. Details are currently sparse as the investigation remains in its infancy. However, several individuals seen in the vicinity at the time are being sought out for information that could aid the investigation, as reported by a City of Austin official news release.
The Austin Police Department has emphasized the critical role witnesses could play in this case. Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen or heard something related to the incident to contact them with information. Individuals wishing to provide tips anonymously can do so through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS," the Austin Police Department said in its public statement.
