Austin is forecast to experience hot temperatures through the week, with conditions nearing 100 degrees before a chance of showers arrives midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s forecast reads, “Sunny, with a high near 95,” with heat index values expected to feel closer to 100. Winds will remain light in the morning, becoming southerly later in the day.
Overnight conditions will bring partly cloudy skies and a low around 75 degrees with a southeast wind near 5 mph. Monday is expected to be “Mostly sunny, with a high near 97,” with heat index values reaching as high as 103, per the National Weather Service.
On Tuesday, forecasters noted a “Slight chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm,” according to the National Weather Service, under mostly sunny skies, with a high near 98. Winds will stay light out of the south, and rain chances stand at 20 percent.
Wednesday’s forecast indicates a change in conditions, with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. The high temperature is expected to reach 94 degrees, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Winds will shift from the south southwest to northerly in the afternoon. That evening, partly cloudy skies are expected with a 40 percent chance of showers and a low near 72 degrees.
The latter half of the week is forecast to be cooler. Thursday includes a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 89 degrees. By Friday, rain chances decrease to 20 percent, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 91. Saturday holds a similar 20 percent chance of showers with highs around 90.
