A disturbing assault at a Bellevue restaurant yesterday has resulted in a 48-year-old suspect being taken into police custody. Bellevue Police responded to reports of an attack that took place on the 13800 block of Bel Red Road shortly before 2 a.m., where they found a 56-year-old man with head injuries, as documented by the Bellevue Police Department.
The victim and the alleged aggressor were co-workers, winding down after a night of work at the restaurant where the assault occurred. According to initial reports by Bellevue Police, it was during this after-hours period that the victim was struck in the head with a hammer by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene, prompting officers and law enforcement from neighboring areas to launch a search.
After a pursuit that lasted less than half an hour, local police managed to locate the suspect not far from the scene of the incident. By 2:11 a.m., the arrest had been made, and the suspect was charged with assault. Following the assault, both parties were rushed to Overlake Medical Center, thankfully, with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
