Bloomington's very own Jodi Carufel has been shaping young minds at Olson Middle School for the past three decades, leaving an indelible mark on the students who've crossed thresholds into her eighth-grade Language Arts classroom. A product of the same educational system she now serves, the Jefferson High School alumna finds her journey back to these halls not so much a full circle, but a continued path to passionately nurture the potential within each adolescent she meets. "I want to give them hope," Carufel said, in a statement obtained by Bloomington's official website. "They can do anything."
Her teaching philosophy transcends the mere academics. It was quick for her to realize that to effectively teach was to also offer a steady hand of support and encouragement.
